Monte Vista, Mount Miguel Perform at Marching Band and Color Guard Fall Showcase

Flags were waved and horns played loud Tuesday night as marching band aficionados and family and friends of band members packed the Monte Vista High School stadium for the .

Eleven marching bands and color guard from GUHSD schools, including Monte Vista and Mount Miguel, graced the field, and each performed a 10-minute variety of music, marching and dance.

The Monte Vista "Monarch Royal Brigade," with 38 band members and four color guards, performed "Border Crossing," "Land of Make Believe," and "El Fuego," under the direction of Linda Thompson.

Mount Miguel's "Marching Matadors," with 65 band members and 15 color guard, performed various selections of the music of Danny Elfman, under the direction of Jason Hutton.

The event was dedicated to Roger Brown, who directed the El Capitan High School band for 21 years, and who passed away recently.

The final "Massed Band" performance of "Quetzalcoatl's Conquest" with all twelve marching bands  and color guard performing, included County Supervisor Dianne Jacob as the guest director.
