Robbery At Knife-Point On Amaya Drive In La Mesa

A 21-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint while walking in La Mesa early Monday, police said.

The robbery in the 5600 block of Amaya Drive was reported at 3:36 a.m., according to La Mesa police. The victim told officers he was walking east when two men and a woman approached in an older model white sedan and asked him for a cigarette, police said in a statement.

One of the men in the car got out and started talking to the victim while the second man got out and approached him from behind, placed him in a chokehold and threatened him with a six-inch pocket knife, according to police.

The robbers searched the victim's pockets, took $60 and a watch, then fled in a car driven by the woman, who has dark hair, police said.

Police described the suspects as white, in their early 20s, with medium builds. One had short hair and several tattoos on both arms, and the other had long black hair.

"The victim received some minor abrasions around his neck but was otherwise unharmed," police said.
