Deputies Arrest 20 Suspects in County Sweep, Some in East and North County

Sheriff's deputies arrested 20 people with outstanding warrants stemming from drunken driving or domestic violence incidents Saturday during a sweep operation that included La Mesa, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Personnel from the sheriff's department's Court Services Bureau conducted the warrant sweep primarily in Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Lemon Grove, Spring Valley, La Mesa and El Cajon, according to sheriff's Sgt. Richard George.

The operation was funded by assessment fees collected from those who have violated a written promise to appear in court or otherwise failed to comply with the condition of their court orders, George said.

George said the sheriff's department would continue efforts to apprehend wanted subjects. Those with outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants were advised to turn themselves in to a court facility during business hours, George said.
