Car Theft Suspect Arrested After Chase in Casa De Oro

Michael Green was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, reckless driving, and felony hit and run.

A vehicle reported stolen from Solana Beach was found and the suspect arrested after a police chase in Casa de Oro Monday morning, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

Michael Green, 32, was arrested on suspicion of driving and being in possession of a stolen vehicle, being in possession of stolen property, felony evading, reckless driving, and felony hit and run. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail.

At about 11 a.m., the Sheriff's Analysis Driven Law Enforcement (SADLE) Team located a stolen vehicle parked near Campo Road in the Casa De Oro area. The vehicle had been reported stolen during a residential burglary from Solana Beach two nights earlier. While conducting surveillance on the vehicle, the suspect returned to the vehicle and drove away, according to police.

Sheriff's deputies followed the driver for about one mile, on a "high speed vehicle pursuit." The suspect evaded deputies for about one minute and then lost control of the vehicle, ultimately colliding with a parked delivery truck.

The suspect fled on foot and Sheriff's K-9s were helped track the suspect to a hillside where he was found hiding in a tree.

Green was found to be in possession of stolen property related to the residential burglary and had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants, according to police.

No injuries were reported, but damage was done to the stolen vehicle and the parked truck.
