La Mesa Gas Station Robbed at Gunpoint

The suspect fled on foot after robbing a USA Gas station on University Avenue at gunpoint.

La Mesa police are searching for a suspect that held up a gas station on University Avenue at gunpoint just after midnight Sunday.

A man entered USA Gas at 7594 University Ave. and displayed a black semi-automatic handgun as he demanded cash from the clerk, according to the La Mesa Police Department.

The clerk complied and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot, and responding officers were unable to locate him.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 30s, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, wearing a white shirt, dark pants and a black baseball cap. The suspect used a white bandana to cover the lower part of his face, police said.
