Torie Bradeen, Neighbor

Torie Bradeen was born in La Mesa in 1960 and is a lifelong resident of East County.  In 1989 after a seven-year failed marriage, she began her journey of what she calls, Single Mom Syndrome, and moved to the Village of La Mesa to raise her daughter. 

 Being raised in a household with parents married 53 years when her mother passed away in 2007, she says she never imagined she wouldn’t be married forever, let alone be a single mom.

“Raising a family is the toughest job in the world,” she says, “and doing it alone is terrifying but I believe that if we band together and create a Circle of Support to help each other through Single Mom Syndrome, no one has to do everything alone and each of us can become more successful at the Business of raising a family.  My mission is to reach out and help other Single Moms so they in turn can reach out and reach back to help others and so on, and so on.  Sometimes it takes a Village.”
