Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011, the school continues to innovate and offer a wide variety of programs and…More clubs. It features a Compact for Student Achievement, detailing responsibilities of the school, support staff, parents and students—and signed by the principal, parent and child. Its character education program is called Parkway P.R.I.D.E.—for peace, responsibility, integrity, determination and empathy.
The Junior Seau Sports Complex on campus includes an artificial turf football field, and the neighboring Davis Family YMCA partners with the school, letting students swim and use exercise equipment. Some students learn pre-Junior Lifeguard skills.
The school offers small learning communities called Houses (Earth, Wind, Water and Fire), with each having 10 teachers and one counselor. These teams stay together with the students for their three years at Parkway.
Mondays are Game Days, where students are invited to play cards, chess, checkers, other board games and online games from 8am to 9am in the libary. The school enforces a dress code, with violations resulting in students having to change into "orange uglies" (P.E. shorts), or face detention or in-school suspension.
