A third firehouse, Fire Station 12, is at 8844 Dallas St. in the northern part of town.
Since 2004, every firefighter hired by La Mesa has been a certified paramedic. La Mesa also contracts with American Medical Response, or AMR, for emergency and non-emergency medical transport services. La Mesa Fire Department works with the Burn Institute of San Diego and its Juvenile Firesetter Program, which educates and counsels children about the dangers of playing with fire.
Station 11 is the city's busiest, responding to medical calls, structure fires, grass and brush blazes, vehicle fires and accidents, rescues and hazardous materials incidents.
