La Mesa Community Library

Part of the San Diego County Library system, this branch moved into its new, larger building in June 2008. It boastsMore 10,000 square feet of space, with 14 Internet computers and two children's computers.  The Friends of the La Mesa Library have a bookstore near the entrance.</p> <p>More than 60,000 titles are circulated each month, says the library, one of the busiest branches in the county system. Classes and workshops are common, listed on a busy monthly calendar.</p> <p>Children's programs are popular, with weekly story times attracting 30 to 50 kids. A teen book club is recorded and archived as podcasts. The library is proud of a program called Text Message Reference, where patrons can text the library at 619-928-2251 and ask reference questions.</p> <p>On Oct. 3, 2010, library hours were expanded on Sunday to five hours from the previous four, thanks to the library being the most productive circulator in the system per square foot.</p>

Lake Murray Community Church is an evangelical free church of America. The church has Awana, children's, high school,More seniors, men's and women's ministries. The church has discipleship and shepherding groups and outreach programs to rest homes, adopt a family, missions and prayer quilt. Nursery schoolers through fifth graders have ministries designed for them during both the 9 am and 10:45am services. Junior high and high school groups meet at 9am and join the worship service at 10:45am. The pastor is Stephen Sammons. Also, the church has a preschool enrichment program for children ages 2 -5 and pre-kindergarten on the traditional school calendar where they are taught developmental skills. There are discounts for military, minister and congregation families.
San Diego County Libraries - Spring Valley Branch

The Spring Valley Library is located in a residential neighborhhod next to Kempton Elementary School and La PresaMore Middle School.  It houses a separate "Career Center" which is a free service to assist the public looking for employment.  Additionally, this library offers a place for students and tutors to study together during after school hours.</p> <p>The library has materials in several languages and is host to several literacy programs.  Throughout the year and in partnership with the San Diego County Library, this branch offers informative classes on legal assistance, child nutrition,  job counseling, and public health.  A calendar of events is available on site and online.</p> <p>The branch manager Christine Plante invites the community to come in and get to know the library and use it.  Also, she invites the community to attend the "Annual Fiesta" in September when many community organizations, businesses, local sheriff, fire and county services are on site to meet the public, answer questions and enjoy light refreshments, entertainment and dancing.</p> <p>The library is always looking for volunteers from high schoolers to seniors.</p> <p></p>
