Sorry not true.... Up to about 100K everyone pays payroll tax, around 9%? the employers match theRead More 9% (this can be considered 18% as this is only paid on behalf of a worker and is a part of compensation). People up to 100K pay local taxes, and as the portion of their income for food and necessities is 100% of their pay (vs. a wealthy person who invests the money above their requirement) so while a Warren Buffett or Mitt Romney pay 13-14% (their payroll taxes are inconsequential), the poor guy at Starbucks pays a minimum of 25% in taxes. With property taxes, use taxes, gas taxes, etc. the lower tier of Americans pay a HUGE amount more percentage-wise then wealthy people... But the 3% own the papers, etc. so there you go!

It is quite clear Sister, that you don't understand the difference between "charity" whichRead More the Catholic Church is and has been a leader in the US and around the world. The church as a whole provides services by the generosity of its church members, NOT by the government, which if I am not mistaken doesn't give the Catholic church much of anything. And if you care to do the research ( I have) the percentage of persons getting some form of government assistance is approaching 50% thanks to unemployment which has gotten much worse under this administration. And if you take the time to look at the numbers, what Paul Ryan has suggested is to reform our current social security system (which those of us who work) pay into all our lives but only for those under the age of 50. The current retirement system was established when average life expectance was barely 60 (which is now 75+) and didn't provide for persons not a part of the legal work force not disability which we all know is "milked" by some for all its worth. Mr Ryan and most intellegent persons know stopping fraud and reform must happen to provide for the future retirees that have not reached the age of 50 yet. And one final word, just where does the donations come from to the church, It not government, it is to a large part the people who make over $250,000 a year and tithe big.

I am a non-smoker and don't like being around smoking, however this is a knee-jerk reaction thatRead More needs to be explored. If we did not allow smokers in La Mesa, they would not be able to patronize our village i.e. spend money. Where does it end? Can they smoke in their house/yard? These are all unintended consequences of a "seemingly good" suggestion which would have significant negative impact on our police force and economy.

Better yet save our towns money and NO SMOKING in La Mesa

Don't really know what that comment has to do with smart meters but if you're saying all people'sRead More complaints are imaginary, you're wrong. Smart Meters will make you sick if they are defective, and that is a fact.

Our beagle and cat are best of friends. She gives him baths, he brings home mice and rats for herRead More (yuck!). They sleep together, play in the yard together. It's definately possible for cats and dogs to live together as a family. Now, the 100 pound tortoise in the backyard, both cat and dog steer clear of him!

According to the Administrative Law Judge's order on April 19th, "As part of implementing theRead More opt-out option, SDG&E shall comply with the following guidelines: 1. Residential customers may begin signing up to participate in the opt-out option 20 days after the effective date of this decision. SDG&E shall have a dedicated phone number for customers to call and sign up for the opt-out option. This number shall be staffed by customer service representatives trained to explain the opt-out option and fees." (p. 24) The effective date is 4/19/12, and so 20 days is 5/9/12. SDG&E previously had been stating over the phone that they had established an opt-out list and were taking names and annotating accounts. That is why we recommend writing them at info@sdge.com and telling them that way. They will write you back. Share what they say. Best to get it in writing. SDG&E has not wanted to provide an opt-out so we must stay on this and force them to do what the judge ordered, if need be. More at www.electrosmogprevention.org, with the actual ruling you can read and cite to them in your email.

What is important to understand is that the CPUC (regulatory commission) and utilities are holdingRead More their ground, promoting and desiring that every single household has a smart meter. Our organization views the fees as discriminatory, unjust, and punitive. We feel that the fee is deliberate, in order to discourage opting out. PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) did a survey to see what people would do related to opt-out, depending on the cost. If it was free, 40% of the people surveyed would opt-out. They jacked up the prices to discourage it. We have a very dysfunctional CPUC, influenced heavily by the utility and telecom industries, many say "corrupted" and with good reason, a governor and legislators who support this status quo, as well as local politicians in So CA who go with that flow too - likely being on the campaign-funds dole or hoping for it, many believe. So why do we have those fees? Because the public health is the very LAST thing on the minds of our elected officials, our state agency designed to regulate utilities, and the utilities themselves. Money is on their minds. As long as we tolerate this, that will be the case. Our nonprofit organization is fighting the fees, as are others in the state of CA. In fact, a website has been set up for this: http://fightthefees.wordpress.com/. People-power can win, we've seen this many times before. In the short run, educate all your neighbors and encourage them to opt-out. We will challenge the fees legally and likely win.

Thanks for leading the charge on this for us down here Susan. I still don't understand why we haveRead More to pay to remove something we didn't ask for or approve in the first place, plus a monthly fee. Also, this is no help to those of us in condos where I have 12 smart meters near me and I'm next to an SDGE substation, plus 30 units of apartments in the alley in back (not too many EMFs or RFs here)!!! No matter where I am in my 600 sf condo, me and my 2 cats are being blasted w/ all this constantly. I would sell if I wasn't underwater. But who would buy here? We are all adversely effected and I may have to walk away from this place. Thx SDGE!
