Maryland Avenue Elementary School

This small school is taking big steps to attract new students from outside its enrollment boundaries — planning a Spanish-immersion program for native English speakers — possibly in the 2010-2011 school year. A PeaceBuilders school (focusing on character-building and anti-bullying efforts), Maryland Avenue also offers a Special Day Class program for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Campus hosts the SmartSteps Preschool, with 2-, 3- and 5-day programs at various fees.
