Spring Valley Tailgate & Barbecue Festival BBQ Sunday

Thousands of people are expected to flock to Spring Valley Sunday for a block party and competition to name the winner of an annual barbecue contest, said Tina Carlson with the Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce.

"Over 5,000 people came last year and we already know just from the calls and the attention it's getting that it's going to be more," Carlson said of the 4th Annual Spring Valley Tailgate and Barbecue Festival.

The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday on Troy Street between Bancroft Drive and Central Avenue.

Approximately 20 teams of four will sell samples of carne asada, pork ribs, Tri-Tip and chicken for $2 each. Winners will be selected by 24 judges. Attendees will also be asked to pick a winner of the Peoples' Choice award.
