In what is becoming an earth-friendly tradition, the 3rd annual East County Earth Day will return to the top of on Sunday, April 1. The event celebrates eco-friendly initiatives, and is a way for East County residents to experience a local perspective on Earth-friendly practices without having to leave their community.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is open to the whole family, and will feature vendors, musical acts, artists from local schools, food, children's activities, guest speakers, and of course, breath-taking views from atop one of San Diego County's most notable landmarks. The free event is co-sponsored by the Jarret Meeker Foundation.
Shuttle vans will be running from the fire station at 10105 Vivera Drive in unincorporated La Mesa, beginning at 10:50 a.m.

In addition, there will be a children's Zoo Animal Art Contest, where kids grades K-6 can draw their favorite animal on a brown paper bag, and submit it to try and win Zoo tickets. For more information and rules, visit the Mt. Helix Park website.
