Smart Meters National Call to Action: Oct. 4th

If you live in San Diego County and wish to participate in a protest, contact director@electrosmogprevention.org

National/International Day of Action to Stop Smart Meters on Thursday, Oct. 4th

Protests in Wash DC, throughout the nation, and in other countries/Call/Write the White House

You have a SDG&E smart meter (or several) on your property now, unless you opted out.

Smart utility meters are said to be unhealthy by hundreds of physicians, invade our privacy and collect data about our habits, are a menace to national security as they place the electrical grid at risk, can be easily hacked into to gain info about you or interfere with the grid, and have been forced on the public without environmental safety studies or full disclosure about the amount of RF radiation you are being exposed to, which has been determined to provide full body radiation up to 160 X that of a cell phone, 24/7. Many people in San Diego County and around the nation are also reporting higher bills, sometimes 3-4 X their previous bills, following installation of smart meters. Many are getting sick after installation, with insomnia, headaches, heart problems, dizziness, ringing ears, ear pain, nausea, and some are reporting seizures. No one should have the right to force a device on American citizens that is dangerous or invades our privacy. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has recently issued a warning to all physicians and patients, that people with a wide variety of medical conditions, including but not limited to pregnancy, lung, neurological (ADD, ADHD), cancer, and heart conditions, should not have a smart meter on their homes due to the pulsed microwave RF radiation emitted. Read the list here.

It is absolutely appalling that the smart meters and the wireless mesh network these are part of have been forced on us, partially paid for by tax money and with the blessing of what is being called the most openly corrupted state agency in existence, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

You can "opt-out" - get the smart meters off your own property - now, following a year and a half of legal challenges at the CPUC, but for a fee imposed by the utilities with the CPUC's approval, despite vigorous opposition by Parties such as our organization, CEP. We are continuing to challenge the fees and contend that community opt-outs (such as multi-family dwellings and entire cities and counties) should be able to opt-out free as a group. We assert that the fees are illegal, that all opt-outs should be free (as they are in Vermont) and ultimately, all smart meters banned. Even if you opt-out, that doesn't mean your neighbors will - and some smart meters are aimed right at your living space, or there could be a large bank of them right next to your apartment - nor does it mean that the RF radiation pulses from the 'mesh network' aren't going on constantly in the neighborhood, or that you aren't living next to a 'collector meter' with thousands more pulses daily than the rest. So we must continue to agitate for a complete ban. By no means is this battle over.

Actions you can take on October 4th:

1. Help plan and/or participate in a smart meter protest in your area. If you live in San Diego County and wish to participate in a protest, contact director@electrosmogprevention.org. If you live elsewhere in CA or another state, or for more info, click here.

2. Call and write the White House if you can't participate in a protest event on October 4th. The phone number to call is 1-202-456-1111, and you can also write to the White House at http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments. We encourage you to do both and to have everyone you know do the same!

TELL PRESIDENT OBAMA THAT "SMART METERS ARE NOT THE KIND OF CHANGE WE NEED"!
TELL HIM TO STOP FEDERAL FUNDING FOR SMART METERS - AND TO BAN THEM!

You may wish to say, "President Obama: I oppose wireless smart meters because of serious health risks and health problems after their installation, loss of privacy, hacking , cyber security risks, fires, and increased costs. Please stop encouraging their use. I would like you to help with a nationwide ban on the use of smart meters and a moratorium on the federal funding of smart meters. Many of my family and friends feel the same way. In fact, a large number of communities including counties and cities have come out against smart meters due to these problems, even to the point of criminalizing their installation. The federal government should not be encouraging or paying for such dangerous and intrusive technologies." Add your personal reasons. Sign and provide contact info.
