Smart Meters and Fees Decried at Local CPUC meeting

A rare local CPUC meeting overflowed with speakers decrying smart meters, describing serious illnesses and privacy concerns. All were against opt-out fees and smart meters.

A regional CPUC Public Participation Hearing (PPH) was attended by San Diego and Orange County residents in San Clemente last night, including Susan Brinchman of La Mesa, Director of the Center for Electrosmog Prevention and building biologist/engineer Michael Schwaebe of Encinitas. The meeting was considered - literally - a roaring success! A smart meter protest was held on the main street before the meeting with multiple Southern California activist groups participating. An overflow crowd of about 100 included Stop OC Smart Meters, Center for Electrosmog Prevention (CEP), nuclear and other activists as well as numerous citizens unaffiliated with organizations. About 45 speakers passionately described serious illnesses and other objections to fees and smart meters - such as privacy concerns, the gathering and selling of personal data (concerning habits in the home and more), smart meter fires, hacking of data and use of smart meter information by thieves, before impassive CPUC Administrative Law Judge Amy Yip- Kikugawa. Speakers were only given 2 minutes each and the two hour meeting was cut off 1/2 hour early without any apparent good reason, over the objections of the audience. CEP audiotaped the entire 1.5 hour meeting and took some pics, offered herein, in an uncensored pair of YouTubes, worth listening to.

The above contains raw footage and pics - nothing fancy, but you can listen to the very compelling testimonies from Southern Californians who came together to decry smart meters and fees.  I was speaker #7 and spoke as a citizen, and told my story of being made ill. The short time allotted did not allow for all that could have been said.

Health complaints associated with smart meters mentioned at the meeting included (but were not limited to): headaches, dizziness, heart arrythmias, swollen eyes, skin rashes, ringing ears, newly developed sensitivity to RF radiation (cell phones, computers, Wi-Fi, etc.) and interference with coronary pacemaker (stoppage), with hospitalizations and even homelessness resulting from installations. These are asserted by independent experts to be consistent with this type of microwave radiation, with exposures at the levels provided by smart meters.

Virtually all were against smart meters and any opt-out fees, demanding no fees and banning smart meters. They objected to increases in fees. This meeting is one of five similar meetings held in December, throughout California. The last meeting will be held in Santa Rosa on Dec. 20th.
