On a gorgeous Saturday morning, hundreds turned out for the 2012 Opening Day for the Valle de Oro Little League on the lower fields at in an array of bright colors and brighter smiles.

After the teams, coaches, team moms, and league board of directors were introduced by emcee and league director Mike Chism, it was time to play ball. Elementary aged kids all the way to teenagers strutted their stuff on the diamond in five different divisions: Tee Ball, Caps, Minors, Majors and Juniors.

In addition to the action on the field, guests were treated to street tacos, fries, nachos, and other ballpark fare. There were carnival games, a bounce house, and visits from San Miguel Fire Department firefighters, San Diego SWAT team members, and Captain San Diego (a Capt. Jack Sparrow lookalike motivational speaker).
