Spring Valley Woman Competes In Surf Town Duathlon

In its 23rd year, the Surf Town Triathlon and Duathlon took place Sunday morning.

Imperial Beach Patch was there to take pictures. .

The triathlon was a 500-meter swim, 15K bike ride and 5K run. The Duathlon was a 1,500-meter run and 15K Bike followed by a 5K run.

More than 300 people took part in the triathlon and about 100 participated in the duathlon.

Out of all of the competitors, only one was from Spring Valley: Ebony Shelton, 33.

Shelton competed and finished eighth in her division and 101st overall. She finished the run-bike-run duathlon in 1:41:08.

Overall best time went to Charles Karstrom of La Jolla with a 47:27 finish time in the triathlon.
