Spring Valley, La Mesa Runners Compete in SD Half Marathon

Several runners hailed from East County, including one from La Mesa and 27 from Spring Valley.

The top runner from Spring Valley was Miguel Ayala, 29. He finished with a time of 1:25:52 and held an average pace of 6:33. The lone La Mesa runner was Bertha Manchester, 54. She finished with time of 2:52:32 and held an average pace of 13:10.

Top finisher for Men was Okwaro Raura, from Oceanside. The 37-year-old finished the 13.1-mile course with a time of 1:09:05, and had an average pace of 5:17.

Bridie McCrary, 23, from San Diego, was the Women's overall winner. She finished with a time of 1:21:40 and maintained a pace of 6:14.

The course wound through the Gaslamp Quarter, Harbor Island, Liberty Station, Hillcrest and Balboa Park before returning to the East Village.

Proceeds from the race will go toward the Huntington's Disease Society of America, the National Foundation for Autism Research, and Make-a-Wish Foundation of San Diego.
