SDSU Signs Helix's Meredith to Letter of Intent
Grossmont High QB DeSean Waters will enroll at Bemidji State in Minnesota.
Seniors Sam Meredith (Helix), DeSean Waters (Grossmont) and Reggie Jones (Mount Miguel) signed national letters of intent on Wednesday–the first day high school football seniors could do so under NCAA recruiting guidelines.
Meredith, a 6-foot-3, 258-pound tight end-defensive lineman, cast his future with San Diego State University. He earned Grossmont Hills League Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Jones, a 6-5, 295-pound offensive lineman, also chose to remain close to home and play on Montezuma Mesa for new Aztecs coach Rocky Long. Another East County resident headed to SDSU is Micah Seau, a 6-3, 225-pound linebacker from Spring Valley who helped The Bishop’s School in La Jolla win a state championship last fall.
