Helix Shuts Out Monte Vista for First Softball Victory of the Season

Highlanders head for Poway tournament Wednesday and return home to play Santana on Thursday.

Helix Charter High School won its first softball game of the season Tuesday afternoon, handing Monte Vista High School a 1-0 defeat at Helix. Coach Kellie Nelson saw her club’s season record rise to 1-4-1.  The winning pitcher was Savannah McCully.  Seetia Noa scored the winning run when Desirae Bordine reached  a base on balls with the bases loaded, Nelson said. With three seniors on the team, Nelson said, “We need to find confidence and start to mesh together; and once we do, we’ll be a great team.” Next up is Wednesday’s Falcon Fiesta Tournament in Poway.  On Thursday, the Scotties host the Santana Sultans at 4 p.m.
