Chargers Game Against Ravens to Be Blacked Out

The slumping Bolts can't sell out Qualcomm after losing five of their last six games.

The San Diego Chargers game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens will not be televised locally, team officials announced Thursday.

National Football League policy dictates the game must have been sold out 72 hours before its 1:05 p.m. kickoff to avoid being blacked out in local markets, which include all signals within a 75-mile radius of the stadium and areas whose television signals reach within that 75-mile zone.

The policy affects all telecasts, including cable and satellite. More than 9,000 tickets remained unsold for the 1:05 p.m. game at Qualcomm Stadium as the Chargers have slumped to a 4-6 record with losses in five of their last six games.

Does this mean the Vikings are going to be on? If so, my husband will be happy.

michael..i don't think los angeles is as close to a new stadium as you think..they haven't really settled on a site for it yet..and definitely haven't settled on the financing.. antonio villaragosa is trying to get a deal done before he's termed out as mayor..but he's not making any headway..it would still need a few hundred million dollars in taxpayer funds to get the deal done, and there just isn't the political will in los angeles to get that done.. i think it'll happen sooner or later.. but i'd put my money on later.. doug

Doug: Rumors and speculation run rapid with projects like a new stadium and one will never truly knows until the they actually break ground for a new stadium. None-the-less, they have a corporate sponsor (Farmer's Insurance), and the city council approved the stadium 12-0 this past September. According to what I have read, L.A. is just waiting for the commitment of one NFL team before they will break ground. I think we can agree that L.A. is closer to getting a new stadium than San Diego.

After faithfully following the Chargers for over 35 years now, I'm done until the current management team is gone. I think the wife and I will enjoy a trip to Julian for some hot apple cider. Oh and by the way Mr Spanos, I wont be renewing my season tickets next year and neither will a lot of my fellow fans. I'm sure you couldn't care less though.
