Some people have only one hobby. It's by no means a fault, and for some, is a benefit.
For Mount Miguel High School's senior guard Izzy Wagner, he says there's "never a time when I'm not playing basketball."
That dedication to the craft played itself out in a big way this season, as the 6'1" combo guard led the entire San Diego region in scoring, at more than 34 points per game.
Wagner, who said he models his game after Cleveland Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving, had some jaw-dropping statlines for the Matadors this season.
He scored 39 points or more in 10 games, including a 54-point explosion Dec. 15 vs. Hilltop. He was held to 27 points or less in only four of the Matadors' 29 games, and also led the Grossmont League in steals per game with 4.3 and free-throw percentage at 87 percent.
Wagner said he hopes to continue playing basketball in college, and has scholarship offers from San Diego Christian and Colorado State-Pueblo.
