Steele Canyon Stops Grossmont, But Teams Will Share League Title

Coin flip on Saturday will determine CIF playoffs seeding for Foothilller girls soccer team.

Grossmont High School saw its winning streak stopped in girls soccer Thursday afternoon at the hands of Steele Canyon Charter High School, but the Hillers retain their first-place position in the Grossmont Hills League with a 7-2-1 record.

Coach John Neill's squad will share championship honors with the Cougars after the 3-1 loss. A coin toss Saturday will determine the singular first-place winner for the sake of CIF playoffs seeding. CIF playoffs begin next week.

In girls water polo, Grossmont won in the first round of CIF playoffs Wednesday, beating Rancho Bernardo 7-6. They advance to the next round at 4 p.m. Friday at La Jolla High School’s Coggan Family Aquatic Complex.
