Some Bunny Headed to Boston University with Former Scottie
Helix Charter High School alum Mallory Orr is counting the days until her move to Beantown.
Helix Charter High School alum Mallory Orr can’t wait to get out of town. In just five weeks, she heads off to Boston University, where she says the metropolitan city is more her pace.
“I’m a go-go-go type of person,” Orr said.
She just returned from a three-day orientation, and got to stay on campus in one of the dorms. They sampled all sorts of activities, she said, including a city scavenger hunt and getting a taste of the nightlife.

“I’m not nervous at all,” Orr said of her impending relocation. “I was actually really sad to be coming home from orientation.”
Even visits to see mom Katy, a teacher at Murray Manor Elementary, are up in the air because of various internships and programs offered through the school.

“Looking at it now, I’m not even sure I’ll be home for summer next year,” she said. “At this point, I only plan on being home for Christmas and then I don’t know the next time after that.”
She doesn’t plan on taking much with her—just her clothes and a few suitcases. But cuddly little Prater made the cut.
“I have a stuffed bunny that I’ll probably bring,” said Orr, before explaining its name. “I had really close neighbors that moved away and I named my bunny after the family. I never had a lot of stuffed animals, and this is the only one I’ve had a lot of sentimental attachment to.”
