Second Chance for Dad: He's All-Pro at Making Time for His Daughter
Victor Mosso leads group that works to bring families together. It next meets Friday at Muray Manor.
A 20-year age gap exists between Victor Mosso’s two children. As a result, he’s learned to do some things differently as a dad. Such as making room for quality time.
“There’s no comparison to the amount of time I spent with Joshua versus Mayalyn,” said Mosso, who openly admits his regret of past career-driven choices.
But not to worry. This isn’t a remake of Harry Chapin’s Cats in the Cradle. Mosso’s relationship with his son has improved over the years and he’s bound and determined not to repeat mistakes.

That’s why he captained a local chapter of All Pro Dads, which works to give fathers and kids tools for a better relationship. The group meets monthly at for breakfast and to hear a guest speaker. This month, pro-skater Steve James is featured.
Mosso says the response from 8-year-old Mayalyn has been wonderful.

“Her coming and participating is now an event in our lives,” said Mosso, a former La Mesan who now lives in El Cajon. “It used to be really hard.”
The next meeting is 7:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30. Despite what the name implies, single moms and families are welcome. For more information, or for anyone interested in speaking or starting a chapter of their own, contact Mosso at 619-890-8889 or vmosso@aol.com.
