Rachel Stalford Notches 10 Strikeouts to Lead Hillers Over Highlanders

Pitcher also goes 2-for-3 to keep host Grossmont High School unbeaten in league play.

Right-hander Rachell Stalford was 2-for-3 and racked up 10 strikeouts to lead Grossmont High School as the Hillers stayed undefeated in league softball play,  beating Helix 10-3 in seven innings Thursday afternoon. Grossmont had four shutout innings with 10 runs, but in the fifth the Scotties scored two runs and in the seventh picked up a third.

For the Hillers, Amanda Porter went 3-for-5 and scored two runs; Hayley Kasden scored five RBI; Aubrie May scored twice; Sarah Nicks had a double, with two runs and three RBI; Kaitlyn Nicks went 2-for-4 and scored a run; Megan Crisci went 3-for-4 and scored two runs; and Taylor Waters brought in a run.

For the Highlanders, Gabrielle Guzman got two singles; Kai Penn swatted a single and got an RBI; Raeisha Carter hit a single; and Samantha Cunningham got a hit and Claudette Smith got a single in the fifth inning and an RBI in the seventh.
