Mt. Miguel JROTC Helps Celebrate Veterans Day with Ceremony

More than 175 JROTC Cadets participated in the ceremony honoring all military personnel who have served our country throughout history.

Veterans were remembered with honor on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 9, as the JROTC held its 22nd Annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony. More than 175 JROTC Cadets participated in the ceremony honoring all military personnel who have served our country throughout history.

The ceremony began at 6:40 a.m. It included the raising of the flag, and playing of the National Anthem by the school band. The Corps of Cadets conducted appropriate ceremonial procedures, marched in formation and the Flag Detail raised the flag in conjunction with the playing of Reveille. A special guest in attendance, Mr. Frank Wada, a World War II veteran, was also recognized. He was a member of the 2nd Platoon, Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 42nd Infantry Regiment. Mr. Wada, a Japanese-American, is one of the few survivors remaining from this voluntary unit out of the internment camp in Arizona.

As we celebrate the contribution of our veterans, we also take this opportunity to salute and honor the soldiers serving in the military today. Their determination and readiness to go where they are needed are compelling symbols of liberty, justice and hope for freedom all over the world.
