Joe Musgrove Leads Grossmont With Homer, Save vs. West Hills High School

Hillers boost their league record to 7-1 with 4-3 victory over the visiting Wolf Pack.

Grossmont High School first baseman/pitcher Joe Musgrove led the Foothillers to their seventh league win Monday night over West Hills of Santee with a two-run homer and save on the mound.

The host Hillers beat the Wolf Pack 4-3. Grossmont has only one loss in Grossmont Hills League play.

The Foothillers scored in the second and third innings, but West Hills came back to go ahead 3-2 in the fifth. Musgrove’s trip around the bases put Grossmont ahead 4-3, and then he prevented further scoring from the mound in the seventh.

Other Hillers who got on base were Eric Eckley, Jordan Gerlak,  Alex Connor, Will Soto, Tyler Timmer. Nick Rochester, Connor and Musgrove got RBIs.

Alex Connor led off the pitching, Matt Hemphill provided middle relief and Musgrove was the closer for Grossmont.

For the Wolf Pack, scorers were Ryan Nuckols, Brandon Beard (double), Brandon Byrd, Alex Parsons and D.J. Lewis.

Byrd, Brian Commerford (who pitched a complete game) and Nuckols got RBIs.
