Helix Charter High Seniors Saluted in their Final League Hoops Game

Highlanders rock visiting Granite Hills in the last minutes, await seeding for CIF San Diego Section playoffs.

Tommie Young sank five three-pointers and topped all scorers with 24 points to lead Helix Charter High School past visiting Granite Hills 48-34 on Friday night—the last regular-season home game for the team’s seven seniors.  Kenny Keys added 13 points for the Scotties, who await Saturday’s seeding meetings to see who they face in the CIF San Diego Section basketball playoffs. The Highlanders, now 20-6 overall and 9-1 in Grossmont Hills League, trailed at halftime 24-21 and led 31-30 after the third period. But they outscored the Eagles from El Cajon 17-4 in the final period. The Scotties had sewed up the league title earlier in the week.  Senior players were cheered, along with their parents, in ceremonies before the game.
