Helix Holds Off Grossmont Surge to Win First League Game in Girls Hoops
Sarah Meredith led the Scotties with 16 points. The Hillers' Danielle Dahle also had 16 points.
Helix Charter High School won its first Grossmont Hills League game Friday night, repelling a last-minute surge by visiting Grossmont to prevail 36-32 in girls basketball.
The Highlanders were ahead 19-9 at the half and held onto the lead until the end. Sarah Meredith led the Scotties with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Faith Leaupepetele scored 9 points, Hayley Singer and Fuafive Pulu each scored 4 points and Shirah Hancock had 3.
The Scotties, coached by Patrick Tabor, lifted their overall record to 3-14, with a league record of 1-2. They host Granite Hills at 6 p.m. Monday

The Foothillers, with an overall record of 4-15 and 1-2 in league play, next host West Hills at 6 p.m Monday. Jeff Bickford is the Hiller coach.
