Grossmont Sweeps Visiting Monte Vista in Girls Volleyball
Hillers dominate Monarchs in preleague competition, looks ahead to La Jolla and Scripps Ranch.
With eight returning players on his volleyball team, Grossmont High coach Armando Fry says he expects an exciting year. His team quickly defeated the Monte Vista Monarchs 25-4, 25-10 and 25-18 at Grossmont High School.
“We've got a lot of good athletes,” Fry said Tuesday evening. “We're going to be tough.” In pre-league play, Grossmont's record is 5-3—and the team boasts two 6-foot-1 Danielles (senior Danielle Dahle and junior Danielle Davis). Fry expects exciting games as Grossmont faces La Jolla on Thursday and Scripps Ranch on Tuesday. Both games are at home at 5:30 p.m.
The Monte Vista Monarchs, with a posted record of 1-1, are coached by Brian Carpenter. The Monarchs play at 5:30 p.m Thursday at West Hills in Santee.
