Grossmont Swats the San Pasqual Eagles to Advance in CIF Baseball
Robbie Nesovic improves his record to 10-0 as Foothillers secure another home game Tuesday.
A five-run fourth inning carried No. 2-seed Grossmont High School to a 6-2 victory over No. 3 San Pasqual on Friday in the second round of the CIF San Diego Division I baseball playoffs.
The host Hillers' big fourth inning included a two-run double by Matt Hemphill, a two-run single by Tyler Timmer, plus singles by Jordan Gerlak, Will Soto and pitcher Robbie Nesovic, resulting in a fifth run. That erased a 2-0 deficit after the Escondido-based Eagles (24-8) had scored single runs in the first and third innings.
Grossmont scored its final run in the sixth inning as a result of a hit batter (Gerlak), a steal of second, a passed ball and a wild pitch—but no hits. Robbie Nesovic, who pitched a complete game, saw his record rise to 10-0.
