Grossmont Overcomes Errors to Beat University City, Keep Record Perfect

On cool night at La Jolla High School, Hillers hold off several Centurion drives and prevail 21-14.

Despite their young quarterback throwing three interceptions, the Grossmont High Foothillers prevailed against host University City High School 21-14 Friday night at La Jolla High School. (UC’s field is undergoing work.)

In the decisive play, cornerback Jeff Bowers returned an interception 86 yards.

Sophomore quarterback Anthony Lawrence made up for the miscues, however. He threw for two touchdowns. A third Hiller score came on an interception and run for the end zone.
