Grossmont High School Wins Statewide Award for Fourth Straight Year

Foothillers among two high schools in San Diego County to win honors for activities programs.

For the fourth consecutive year, Grossmont High School has won recognition from the California Association of Student Leaders.

Grossmont is one of 26 high schools statewide honored for outstanding activities—and one of only two in San Diego County. Francis Parker Upper School is the other.

The program, which also honored 15 middle schools and junior highs, is operated by the California Association of Directors of Activities.

Grace Crummett, the Grossmont senior who prepared the bulk of the application, said Thursday: “Being recognized for all of the hard [work], effort and time we dedicate to Grossmont is very rewarding.”

Crummett  says she has been involved with Associated Student Body for the past three years, and “each year… Grossmont’s ASB has been recognized as an outstanding activites program. This award has set a standard of excellence, and an expectation to continually raise spirit and a sense of community.”

ASB adviser Jeremy Hersch said: “We are very excited and humbled by the award. The students take it very seriously and are honored to be selected!”

Crummett will accept the award on Grossmont’s behalf at a state conference in Costa Mesa in late March and early April, Hersch said.
