Free dinner for first 100 Hillers Back for Homecoming at School Museum

The Grossmont High School Museum will host a casual dinner and viewing before the 2011 Homecoming game.

Nothing beats good conversation over a meal with old friends—especially when the food is free. On Friday, the Grossmont High School Museum will host a dinner and viewing before the Foothillers battle the Monte Vista Monarchs.

The first 100 alumni and guests to stop by the museum will get a sandwich, drink and chips to enjoy while reminiscing about Hillers past.

Along with other items, the newly restored 1922 cornerstone contents retrieved from the historic Old Main building will be on display–including newspapers, badges and Civil War memorabilia.

“People ask why there’s memorabilia from the Civil War,” Lynn Baer, the museum’s co-director, has said before. “I think it’s because they wanted to show what was important to people in 1922, and there were people still alive from the Civil War.”

The reception begins at 5 p.m. Oct. 7. It’s a donation-only event and proceeds go toward the GHS Educational Foundation. The Homecoming game begins at 7 p.m.
