14 La Mesans Honored at Schools and Colleges Across the Country

Recognition goes to Amanda Rudd, Anthony Michael Bradley, Erin Cafagna, Nellie Aurora Rivera, Lexis Milisic, Ryan Miller, Isidor Pollak, Rachel Bair, Benjamin Bigelow, Sarah Rens, Analese Snyder, Julius J. Arrascue-Pastor, Katherine H. Mercer and Louys G

Fourteen La Mesans attending schools or colleges across the country have gained academic honors or made news on campus, according to school officials.

The following La Mesans are news on campus:

Amanda Rudd Makes the Dean’s List at Azusa Pacific

Azusa Pacific University student Amanda L. Rudd made the academic Dean’s List. Rudd is honored for a fall semester 2011 academic standing of a 3.5 or better grade-point average. Rudd is a Biblical Studies major, who is joined by more than 1,750 other students receiving the same honor.

Anthony Michael Bradley Named to University of Kansas Honor Roll

More than 4,400 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas in Lawrence earned honor roll distinction for the fall 2011 semester, including Anthony Michael Bradley. He is a sophomore with undecided major. He made the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The honor roll comprises undergraduates who meet requirements in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the schools of allied health; architecture, design and planning; business; education; engineering; journalism; music; nursing; pharmacy; and social welfare.

Erin Cafagna to Be National Youth Correspondent

Erin Cafagna,  a student at Diego Hills Charter School, has been nominated to represent California as a national youth correspondent to the 2012 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Cafagna will join a group of 250 students from across the country to take part in a weeklong study of journalism and media July 8-13, 2012.

She was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.

With distinguished faculty, guest speakers, and direct access to elite D.C. practitioners, the Washington Journalism and Media conference offers aspiring journalists an unparalleled experience.

Nellie Aurora Rivera Named to Honor Roll at University of Nebraska

Nellie Aurora Rivera has been named to the Dean’s List/Honor Roll at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester 2011.

Rivera is a senior music major in the College of Fine and Performing Arts.

Qualification for the Dean’s List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Honor Roll for the Division of General Studies.

Local Students Named to Dean’s List at Loyola Marymount University

Lexis Milisic, Ryan Miller and Isidor Pollak—all of La Mesa—were named to the Dean’s List at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, having completed 15 semester hours and earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Rachel Bair Qualifies for Whitworth University Laureate Society

Rachel Bair has been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for fall semester 2011 in Spokane, WA.

Blair qualified for the academic honors society by maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Benjamin Bigelow Named to Dean's List at Beloit College

Benjamin Bigelow has been named to Beloit College’s Dean’s List for the fall semester in Beloit, WI.

To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.4 or higher and take a minimum of 3 letter-graded units for the term.

Beloit College is a residential, liberal arts college offering 40 majors to its 1,250 students. Located 90 miles northwest of Chicago, Beloit is one of the nation's most international colleges, drawing students from 41 nations as well as 48 states.

Sarah Rens Makes the Dean’s List at DePaul University

Sarah Rens made the Dean’s List at DePaul University for the fall quarter of 2011. In order to qualify for the Dean’s List at DePaul, in Chicago, students must earn above a 3.0 grade-point average on a four point scale.

With more than 25,000 students, DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the United States and the largest private, nonprofit university in the Midwest.

Analese Snyder Named to Dean's List at Creighton University

Analese Snyder, a sophomore College of Business student at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, was named to the fall Dean’s List for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Full-time students who earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the Dean's Honor Roll.

Julius J. Arrascue-Pastor Graduates from Excelsior College

Julius J. Arrascue-Pastor has earned a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior College in Albany, NY.

Excelsior College is an accredited, private, nonprofit institution that focuses on the needs of working adults.

Katherine Mercer Named to Dean’s List at the University of Vermont

Katherine H. Mercer has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT.
 
Mercer is a sophomore sociology major in the College of Arts & Sciences.

To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Louys Gackstetter Named to Dean's List at Biola University

Louys Gackstetter was named to Biola University’s Dean’s List for academic excellence last spring.

Gackstetter was one of 1,300 students who were named to the list for the spring semester 2011 at the La Mirada school.

Biola students are placed on the Dean’s List to honor those with a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 of more credit units and whose cumulative grade-point average is at least a 3.2. This past spring, 26 percent of Biola students achieved this academic goal.
