Seniors group at La Mesa health library to learn dental hygiene tips on Wednesday, Jan. 22

The Grossmont Healthcare District’s Dr. William C. Herrick Community Health Care Library, 9001 Wakarusa St. in La Mesa, will host a free senior discussion group presentation on “Brush up on Dental Care,” from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The public is invited to attend, and RSVP is not required. The speaker will be Cindy Simpson, owner of Special Dental Health of Coronado.

 

The discussion on Jan. 22 will include tips on brushing, flossing and good dental hygiene and its connection to good health. Simpson is a registered dental hygienist who provides mobile dental hygiene care and instruction to homebound persons and their caregivers. Her patients are often dealing with strokes, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and other ailments. She graduated with a degree in Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice from the University of the Pacific’s Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry. She also earned a masters degree in Dental Hygiene in Teaching/Administration from the University of Michigan.

The Herrick Library, which opened in 2002, is a consumer health public library specializing in health research information, accessible both on-site and via the Internet.
