Rep. Susan Davis Meets with Tickets Winners for the Inauguration of Barack Obama

Lucky winners excited about heading to nation's capital

SAN DIEGO – Congresswoman Susan Davis hosted a meet and greet with winners of her constituent lottery for the Inauguration of President Barack Obama.  The winners mingled and chatted with Davis and each other at Cosmos Coffee Café in La Mesa.

“During inaugurations, Americans come together to celebrate our enduring democracy,” said Davis.  “It’s always enjoyable to hear people’s thoughts and feelings about what this momentous occasion means to them.”

About 40 of the lottery winners attended the event.  They shared their plans for traveling to the nation’s capital and the thought of being a part of history. Winners included residents from San Diego, La Mesa, El Cajon, Chula Vista, Lemon Grove and Mt. Helix.

Davis wanted to give her constituents an equal chance at getting tickets, so she held a random lottery. Demand from constituents always exceeds the supply of tickets allotted to members, but Davis encouraged people to take part in the lottery.

The inaugural tickets are standing only and winners will pick up their tickets in person in Washington DC.
