Time to Produce, La Mesans: What Do You Want in a Community Garden?

The city and Helix Charter High School will host a community meeting on Wednesday to plot out plans for garden on campus.

earlier this month, but much planning remains for the city of La Mesa’s grant-funded community garden at Helix Charter High School.

A meeting is set Wednesday to discuss the city-Helix partnership and take suggestions about what things should be grown there. The meeting also will let teachers, students, residents and local groups know how they can get involved.

, Helix executive director Rani Goyal said she hoped the community garden would be a way for La Mesans to get to know the campus and meet its students. She said produce from the student garden could be folded into its meal and instructional programs.
