Sign of Centennial: Momentous Date in City History is Less Than a Month Away

Countdown is closing in on February date marking 100 years of La Mesa cityhood. Many events set.

The minutes tick down toward La Mesa’s Centennial, with a year of celebrations beginning ahead of the Feb. 16 anniversary. And so last week a 4-foot-wide sign went up outside the new police station, facing the intersection of University Avenue and Baltimore Drive.  On Monday, we were 30 days out. Among the early events is a Town Hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at the La Mesa Community Center—a special meeting of the City Council. For other centennial events, see the calendar.
