Ruth was born and raised in San Diego and has lived in La Mesa for 50 years, where she raised her four daughters, all attended our local schools. She has been on the La Mesa City Council for 20 years with near perfect attendance and always on time. That's dedication.

Councilmember Sterling is the founder of La Mesa's Flag Day Parade and the La Mesa's Flag. Ruth keeps our La Mesa jewel polished, she initiated Administrative Code Enforcement, voted for our Social Host Ordinance, Graffiti Tracker, Call 619-667-7560, Boys and Girls Club, Shredding events via EDCO, as well as a Compost Program and a 20% Discount Drug Perscription Program.

She also initiated chess in the schools program, and initiated Walkway of the Stars – a tribute to the La Mesa  volunteers that contribute 10,000 hours with a star in the walkway on La Mesa Boulevard. 

Ruth represents her constituency with undisputed experience. Quality of Life Community Survey rated excellent to good by 89%. La Mesa Police, Neighborhood Traffic Management Program and Stop Sign Monitoring is working well for us.

Councilmember Sterling is fiscally conservative, keeping a careful watch on your general fund and your parking meter money. La Mesa Downtown Village Streetscape will promote economic revitalization. Many big decisions are ahead.
