Madrid Raised $4,675 for Mayoral Race in Last Weeks of Campaign; Lothian Late

Donation of $2,000 came from San Gabriel woman. Madrid paid $10 late fee for turning form in after Monday's deadline.

Art Madrid raised nearly 40 percent of his campaign war chest in the last 10 days of the 2010 mayoral campaign, collecting $4,675 from seven donors, according to his state-required financial disclosure statement.

The bulk of that came from two donors—$2,000 from Mee Ching Lim Goh of San Gabriel, who listed herself as "homemaker" but owns property valued at $2 million, and $1,000 from Randall Lamb of La Mesa. Both were reported previously.

Madrid, who defeated challenger Laura Lothian by 5.6 percentage points Nov. 2, paid a $10 late fee this week after missing Monday's 5 p.m. deadline to file his Form 460 with the City Clerk's Office, a receipt showed.

In an e-mail Thursday morning, Lothian said she filed her Form 460 Wednesday afternoon. (La Mesa Patch will report on the disclosure Thursday night.) A City Clerk's Office representative said she had sent out reminders on the deadline.

Madrid raised a total $12,053 in 2010, according to the statement signed by  campaign treasurer Debbie McElravy, president of the Grossmont Healthcare District board.

Other major donors to Madrid's campaign were Scott Sanders, a neighbor of his, who gave $500; Hal Drew, construction supervisor with E.F. Brady Co. of La Mesa, who gave $250; and the Brady Co. itself, which gave $250. Donations of $100 each came from Mary McBride of La Mesa and attorney Kristine Alessio of La Mesa.

In the period Oct. 24 to Dec. 31, Madrid spent $834 on stamps for campaign mailers ($72), "data file consulting" with Elevate LLC ($469) and "mailing file" with Political Data Inc. of Burbank ($294).
