The primary reason for the proposed rate increase is the cost of wholesale water increasing by 9.5 percent, as well as the amount of water the district needs to purchase due to dry year conditions.

The rate structure supports the district’s Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget in which the district has made a conscious effort to reduce expenditures to help minimize the rate increase and rate impact on customers.
