How do you know what City Council will discuss this week? Check in here.

Below is a summary of what is due to occur at this week's Council meeting.

Could a dog park be coming to La Mesa?

The La Mesa City Council will discuss the possibility of using a portion of Collier Park as a dog park, based on community input being brought forth by Vice Mayor Mark Arapostathis.

The Collier Park Master Plan is nearing completion and will soon be brought to the council for approval. although a dog park element was not originally considered as part of the master plan, several years have passed since the original conversation.

The council will discuss if there is enough public interest now for the plan to be amended and a dog park element added. In other agenda items:

  • The council will interview applicants for unscheduled vacancies on the Youth Advisory Commission
  • Mayor Madrid will bring a discussion about the city establishing ordinances that deal with harvesting rainwater, and re-using "grey" water (wastewater from showers, sinks, dishwashers, washing machines, etc.) to provide greater efficiency in water and energy savings.
  • There will be a community dialogue focusing on fiscal issues in the City of La Mesa, brought forth by councilmember Kristine Alessio.
