Council to Discuss Public Services Funding: March 27 Agenda Summary

Below is a summary of what is due to occur at this week's Council meeting.

The La Mesa City Council will move to accept the 2011 Annual Report, implement the Genral Plan, and transmit to the State office of Planning and Research, and the State department of Housing and Community Development.

The Council will move to accept the single audit of two reissued federally assisted grant programs, ending June 30, 2010 and June 30, 2011, respectively.

Resolutions

Council will discuss resolutions to approve the installation of six medians, two traffic circles, and a pork chop island on Harbison Avenue, for the purpose of traffic calming; and the installation of two timed right turn restriction signs at intersection of Sacramento Avenue and High Street.

Council will discuss a resolution to approve a grant for the state funded Safe Routes to School Program, which would build and improve sidewalks and install high-visibilty crosswals at various locations around the city.

Ordinances

Discusson of ordinance repealing Municipal Code Chapter 10.40 entitled "Litter" and replacing it with new chapter 10.40  entitled "Weed, Rubbish, and Nuisance Abatement."

Discussion of entering into service agreement with Fire Protection Services, Inc. (FPSI) to vegetation, litter and rubbish abatement. 

Additionally, the Council will also consider an item continued from the , discussing funding for Community Block Development Grant (CBDG) programs, as it relates to public service for fiscal year 2012-13. The item will consider which public service programs will be retained, which will be cut, and how much funding each will receive.

The Council will also discuss the successor agency Oversight Board, and will hear the Mayor's Appointments to the Oversight Board.
