Yum Yum Donuts Is Robbed at Gunpoint

Police were on the lookout today for the gunman and an accomplice who held up a 24-hour donut shop in La Mesa.

The two young men entered Yum Yum Donuts at 7550 El Cajon Blvd. shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday, and one produced a small black handgun and demanded cash from an employee, according to La Mesa police.

The two suspects then ran from the shop with an undisclosed amount and headed east toward Comanche Drive, police said.

A subsequent search of the surrounding areas, which included the use of a police helicopter, failed to turn up the robbers, police said.

Police described both suspects as black and in their late teens or early 20s. The gunman was 6 feet to 6 feet 2 with a thin build and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask. The other man was 5 feet 9 or 5 feet 10 with a medium build and wore a gray sweatshirt over a black hooded sweatshirt.
