UPDATE: Woman's Claims of Being Kidnapped, Held 'Unfounded'

A 911 caller reported finding the apparent abduction victim in the late morning near the intersection of Fuerte and Redondo drives in an unincorporated area near El Cajon, sheriff's Lt. Scott Amos said.

La Mesa police have confirmed to La Mesa-Mount Helix Patch that a previously reported kidnapping was "unfounded." It was reported that a woman who was found at the corner of Fuerte and Redondo drives in unincorporated La Mesa, alleged to have been kidnapped and held against her will in La Mesa.

La Mesa police Lt. Matt Nicholas told Patch that detectives are still evaluating the case for possible charges of domestic violence, and held off on identifying the victim and or suspect while the case is still being investigated.

A woman who reported having been kidnapped and held against her will for an undetermined amount of time turned up on an East County roadside Friday, prompting an investigation and search for the alleged perpetrator.

A 911 caller reported finding the apparent abduction victim in the late morning near the intersection of Fuerte and Redondo drives in an unincorporated area near El Cajon, sheriff's Lt. Scott Amos said. The woman may have been dropped off there by her abductor, the lieutenant said.

Preliminary information about the purported crime, which reportedly occurred in La Mesa, was sketchy and unconfirmed, according to Amos. The La Mesa Police Department was expected to head the investigation.
