Video: How Did You Spend Your Time During the Blackout?

What areas of Spring Valley and Mt. Helix were affected by Thursday's 'unprecedented' power outage?

After spending hours in darkness, residents of Spring Valley, Casa de Oro and Mt. Helix had their power restored at about midnight on Friday morning.

The biggest affect that the outage had was on schools, as schools across the county were closed on Friday. But in most areas of our neighborhoods, it was business as usual.

Aside from opening at 3 p.m., and the local Starbucks cafes on Campo Road and Avocado Boulevard not having any dairy products on Friday, businesses were up and running with no major problems.

So Mount Helix Patch decided to ask residents, "what did you do during the blackout?" Answers varied. Some scarfed ice cream, some went stargazing, some even hit the casino, but like the majority of people across Southern California, they spent time with family and friends.
