Trolley Kills San Diego Man, 22, Near Grossmont Station

Medical Examiner's Office identifies the victim as Christopher Sanchez of Paradise Hills.

A 22-year-old San Diego man was hit and killed on Sunday night by an eastbound trolley that had just left the Grossmont Center Trolley Station in La Mesa, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.

Christopher Sanchez of Paradise Hills was struck by a Green Line trolley 200 yards east of the station around 10 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene by police and fire personnel due to obvious fatal trauma, the Medical Examiner’s Office said in a report.

No additional information was released.

But KGTV Channel 10 News quoted friends as saying Sanchez was with a group of friends, who had just gotten off the trolley, when he continued walking down the tracks and was struck.

 “Sanchez’s friends said they had been out drinking and that the incident was not a suicide,” said the KGTV report.
