Trial Is Set Feb. 14 for Alleged Cell Phone Robber

Sterling Lamont Joseph, 27, is accused of stealing phone at gunpoint at La Mesa trolley station.

A Feb. 14 trial date was set today for a man accused of stealing a cell phone at gunpoint at a trolley station last month in La Mesa.

Sterling Lamont Joseph, 27, is charged with robbery and faces up to five years in prison if convicted, said Deputy District Attorney Daniel Shim.

Charges against a second man, 26-year-old Richard James Goodman, were dismissed following a preliminary hearing earlier this month.

Joseph allegedly committed the robbery at the trolley station in the 7200 block of Alvarado Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. He was arrested the next day.
